No CommentsThe nation has a new healthcare bill that was recently passed by a very divided Congress. This does not appear to be the end of the matter of healthcare reform, but possibly just the beginning. Repeal or significant change of this bill has become the objective of many lawmakers around the country.
With all of that being said, we felt that it was important for you to have the AmeriPlan position regarding the place of discount healthcare in this scenario and what our stand is on the issue.
Here are the key points that we feel the ongoing debate will be focused on and where the future changes may come from:
1 – Even if nothing were to be done, the major provisions of the new Healthcare Bill will not be implemented until 2014. Until then, healthcare and health insurance will remain pretty much as it currently is.
2 – Many states are taking the position that the bill is unconstitutional and have taken the steps to sue the U.S. Government. It is deemed to be a gross violation of the “Commerce Clause” of the Constitution and is unprecedented in its reach. There has never been a case where the government has mandated that the citizenry must purchase a product or service or be penalized for noncompliance.
3 – There are no provisions in the new law that will mandate coverage for the kind of supplemental health benefits that are included in the AmeriPlan programs, other than prescription drugs.
We will be keeping a close eye on Washington and around the country and will be issuing regular updates. In the meantime, do not let the confusion deter you building your AmeriPlan business, and don’t get caught up in “paralysis by analysis.”
Make a very conscious decision to attend the next “AmeriPlan Family Reunion” on June 25th and 26th at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas, where you will get more information and training on how to deal with these matters and you will be exposed to many more ways to grow your income.
